Leaders, bloom where you are planted, and let’s begin cultivating the leader within every member. Leadership already exists within people – it simply needs the right environment to grow. May you have leaders hiding in plain sight? Think about it… the member who asks thoughtful questions, the volunteer who quietly solves problems, or the person who encourages others to stay involved. To unleash that potential, empower your members with trust, opportunity, and support. Trust members with small responsibilities and encourage them to blossom into more. Invite them to lead a committee, welcome new volunteers, organize an event, or speak on behalf of the mission of your club and GFWC. When members know their contributions matter, ownership and accountability grow; this gives them a sense of purpose. Opportunity should be guided with mentoring, training, and regular check-ins, helping new leaders bloom with confidence while staying connected. Recognize, nurture, and celebrate their progress, reminding them that leadership is a journey, not a title. When you empower members, they create a stronger, more sustainable organization. The goal is not to find one perfect leader, but to build a culture where many members feel capable, valued, and ready to step forward, to grow into leadership – to blossom! The leader our organization needs may already be sitting in the room, waiting for someone to invite them to lead.
