November 2026 Legislative Corner

By Debra Bryant, GFWC Federal Government Relations Consultant

What’s Next? Congress returns to Washington, DC on November 9. The House of Representatives has just 20 scheduled days in session before year’s end, and the Senate has 22 legislative days. If legislation is not completed when Congress adjourns the end of December, then new bills must be introduced in January when the 120th Congress (2027-2028) convenes.

GFWC continues to prioritize FY 2027 appropriations, child sexual exploitation bills, nutrition programs, Alzheimer’s early detection and diagnosis, and recognition for the Cadet Nurse Corps. Alerts have been issued and coalition letters signed. Check the GFWC Legislative Action Center for specific legislation.
