GFWC Women's History & Resource Center August 2026 Update

The 2026 official national theme of Women’s Equality Day, set by the National Women's History Alliance, is "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.”  This includes not only environmental sustainability but financial sustainability, community resilience, leadership succession, and intergenerational equity.

“Give To Gain” is the 2026 theme of International Women’s Day, a campaign that may be supported all year long. People, organizations, and communities are encouraged to celebrate the accomplishments of women either through donations, resources, advocacy, or education.   “Giving—whether it is time, knowledge, resources, or visibility—is not a subtraction; it is an intentional multiplication.”    ~ Anonymous

The GFWC WHRC Unity Project – “Herstories Shape Our Future” calls upon clubs to collaborate with local libraries, museums, schools, and/or other civic organizations to sponsor an event during Women’s History Month (March). By sharing stories of local female educators, community servants (firefighters, librarians), business leaders, legislators, and volunteers, we will record and celebrate the advancement of women, thus leading the Change and giving to Gain.
