Time to Honor WWII Cadet Nurse Corps: Answering the call to action from Phyllis Wilson, GFWC 2026-2028 Honorary Chairman, President of the Military Women’s Memorial, and keynote speaker at the GFWC 2026 Annual Convention, the GFWC Legislative Action Center issued an alert urging Congress to enact the U.S. Cadet Nurse Service Recognition Act. The bill provides honorary veterans’ status, honorable discharges, a service medal, a burial plaque or grave marker, and other commendations to the more than 124,000 women who answered the call to service during WWII. Alzheimer’s Provider Training Bill Moves Forward: On July 20, the House of Representatives unanimously approved the Accelerating Access to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Provider Training Act, authorizing funding for virtual dementia education and training to address the knowledge gaps and help build the workforce capacity needed to serve an increased number of patients with these unique health care challenges. Child Sexual Exploitation: Negotiations are continuing between Senate Commerce Committee leadership and the White House regarding the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA, S. 1748) supported by GFWC and demands from technology companies for federal preemption of state restrictions and AI safety proposals.
